A theme pulls the party together
On the day your child turns a year older, you want them to feel special. A theme is one of the easiest ways to do that: when the decorations, the cake and the games all gather around one idea, a little world appears. Your child becomes the hero of that world, and the guests are in the party mood the moment they walk in.
In this post we share a few ideas drawn from the themed birthdays we have prepared at Bonjur Party House.
Choose the theme with your child
The best theme is whatever your child loves most right now. A toy they never put down, a cartoon they watch again and again, or their favourite colour all make a good start. Here are some things to think about as you choose:
- What has your child been playing with and watching most lately?
- Does the theme suit the ages of the children you will invite?
- Can the theme be carried easily into the cake, the decorations and the games?
If you cannot decide, choosing a colour or a world instead of a character makes things easier: a rainbow, stars or a tropical island, for example.
Themes celebrated at Bonjur
The photos in our gallery show scenes from parties we have prepared so far. Here are a few for inspiration:
- Favourite cartoon characters: cake tables decorated with characters the children know, and photo frames that say “Happy birthday”
- A tropical flamingo theme: a table with a summer feel, with pineapples, palm trees and pink flamingos
- Silver and blue stars: a cake table like a stage, with shimmering curtains and a big number balloon
- A costume party: a day when the children come dressed as whatever they like best
Whichever theme you choose, our aim is the same: for your child to be happy and feel special.
The details that complete a theme
It is the details that really make a theme. When we work on one, we think these through together with you:
- Decorations: the cake table, balloons and backdrop, and a big number balloon for your child's new age
- Cake and food: we prepare the cake, the cupcakes and the rest of the food in our kitchen
- Games: games that match the birthday theme, led by entertainers
- Photos: a photo frame made for the theme, ready for the happiest shots of the day
Fit the activities to the theme
The activities at the party can be part of the theme too. With face painting, the children wear their favourite design. Cardboard house painting, bubbles, karaoke and a mini disco bring movement to the party. And the piñata, the ball pool and the games in the play area are for those whose energy never runs out. Our entertainers choose the games to suit the theme, and music, dancing and shows complete the mood of the day.
A few notes for parents
A themed party is planned for you to enjoy as well. While the children play, you can sit with your guests in the section reserved for adults and, if you like, watch your child live on the screen. Sharing the memories you have gathered since your child was born in a video show also adds a touching moment to the party.
